SCOUTS planning a trip to London a step closer to their dream thanks to a donation from a local building society.
Members of the East Cleveland Explorer Scouts will be able to go on a cultural visit to the capital, including a visit to London to participate in a range of cultural and confidence-building experiences, including a attending a West End show and a enjoying a visit to the Olympic Park.
Darlington Building Society in Guisborough made a £186 donation from its community fund after being nominated by a member of staff whose son is a Scout.
Craig Bennett at East Cleveland Explorer Scouts said: “It will help fund our trip to London which will serve as an important confidence building exercise for the youngsters.”
Building society branch manager Nicki Armstrong said: “We are extremely pleased to be able to help the East Cleveland Explorer Scouts.
“The Scouts do a great deal of volunteering in the local community and instil in the members the importance of citizenship and having a positive impact in their communities, which is something the Society whole-heartedly supports.”
