A FAMILY escaped injury when a car smashed into their home at lunchtime on Wednesday.
One police officer who attended the scene said it was “amazing” that no-one was hurt in the smash at Sharow, near Ripon.
The residents were in the front room of the bungalow when the car struck, destroying a window and causing structural damage as it knocked bricks from the corner of the building.
Police experts are now trying to piece together the cause of the incident.
A spokesman said: “At around 12.55pm today, December 20, North Yorkshire Police were called to reports of a Green Volvo V40 that had collided with a house in Sharow, near Ripon.
“Firefighters and ambulance staff also attended the incident.
“The residents were at home at the time but, fortunately, they appear to have escaped injury.”
