A MAN died after police were called to a house in Sunderland on Monday night.
The Independent Police Complaints Commission has been called in following the incident.
"At around 7.30pm this evening police executed a search warrant at an address on High Street just off Easington Lane in Houghton-le-Spring," said a spokesman for Northumbria Police.
"During the search of the property a 43-year-old man who lived at the address became unwell.
"Paramedics were called to the address to treat the man but he was pronounced dead at the scene.
"Enquiries are ongoing into the incident and due to the contact between officers and the man the matter will be referred to the IPCC, as is procedure in the circumstances."
