A CONMAN who used a well-known scam to trick a convenience store cashier into giving him £40 is being sought by police.
North Yorkshire Police said the man asked a shop worker at the Co-op store in Ainderby Road, Northallerton, to change £10 notes for £20 notes on September 26, and left with more change than he was entitled to in a scam known as "ringing the changes".
The fraud often sees customers producing a bundle of notes in one denomination and asking for it to be changed into another notes, before repeatedly asking for other amounts to be changed into different denominations to confuse cashiers.
Anyone who has any information, or who recognises either of the men in the CCTV stills, is asked to call police on 101 or email alan.fenney@northyorkshire.pnn.police.uk
