Police are appealing for help to identify a man who died after being hit by a Metro train.
It happened at 10.11am this morning (Wednesday, October 7) on the lines at Holystone, near Whitley Road in North Tyneside.
Officers are making enquiries to identify the man and inform any family members of his death.
He is described as white, aged late 50s to 60s, 5 feet 7" tall, grey hair and hazel coloured eyes and has a 3" long surgical type scar on his left shoulder.
He was wearing a dark coloured Regatta padded jacket, stonewashed M&S jeans, black Reebok trainers and a wedding ring.
Chief Inspector Dave Gould said: "We are asking for help from the public to ask if they recognise this man from his description. So far we have been unable to identify him and we want to be able to inform his family of his death."
There is no suspected third part involvement in the death.
