A MAN who had a “personality change” following a head injury at work died after taking a combination of drugs, an inquest has heard.
David Colin Frost, 41, died at his home in Brandon on June 8 this year.
An inquest into his death heard that the father had three types of medication in his system when he died.
Detective Sergeant Joanne Long, from Durham Police, told Crook Coroner’s Court that Mr Frost had sustained a head injury at work in 2007, which had led to a change in his personality and had affected his mental health.
She added that pills were missing from medications found at his home. A belt was also found hanging from the loft hatch.
A toxicology report found he had ingested three types of drugs in low concentrations prior to his death.
Mr Frost also had a condition known as fatty liver, which in combination with the drugs could have caused a fatal arrhythmia.
Coroner Dr Leslie Hamilton said: “I’m left with the conclusion that the death is drug related. Although the drugs in themselves would not have killed him in low concentrations, perhaps the combination of drugs and the presence of fatty liver would have caused his death.”
