A YACHT which lost its power and was stranded at sea with two men on board was towed to safety by Hartlepool lifeboat yesterday (Wednesday, September 9).
Hartlepool RNLI was tasked by HM Coastguard to go to the assistance of the 31ft yacht, which had suffered a loss of power but was under sail off Horden, County Durham, about six miles from the RNLI station.
The RNLI crew launched the Betty Huntbatch lifeboat at about 5.15pm and found the stricken boat at 5.50pm. The yacht was towed to the Kafiga Landings at Hartlepool Fish Quay by 7.15pm.
Hartlepool RNLI Operations Manager, Mike Craddy, said: "Our volunteer crew members train on a weekly basis to be able to respond to distress calls like this and help save lives at sea.
