CARIBBEAN grooves, clog dancing and theatre shows are coming to village halls across County Durham.
The Highlights Rural Touring Scheme has 25 different shows, reflecting many art forms, which will be performed at rural venues from Stanhope, in Weardale, to Barningham, in Teesdale, County Durham.
The scheme aims to bring some of the country’s most popular small scale touring companies to places which larger productions may overlook.
Village hall promoters have chosen performances for their respective communities and will promote and host the event.
The programme includes family comedy adventure, folk tales, clog dancing, poetry, Victorian parlour tricks, a festive themed comedy and music.
It also includes the Highlights’ annual Contemporary Craft Tour, which previously toured in the spring but has moved to the autumn.
Locations for performances are Crook, Bowes, Newbiggin, Hamsterley, Barnard Castle, Stanhope, Boldron, Frosterley, Bishop Auckland, St John’s Chapel, Barningham and Cotherstone.
