THERE was slapstick a-plenty during Bank Holiday celebrations in County Durham.
Street performers from all over the world performed death-defying acrobatics, fire juggling and unicycling at the Durham Streets Summer Festival over the weekend.
The event took place in Durham City, on Saturday and Sunday, before moving to Barnard Castle yesterday (Monday), where the finale was held at Scar Top.
Among the highlights were Adorkable Derek, whose performance combined Chinese pole acrobatics, dancing and clowning, local performer, Herbie Treehead, and escape artist Rob Roy Collins.
Aspiring young performers took part in a circus school.
Councillor Neil Foster, Durham County Council’s cabinet member for economic regeneration and culture described the event as a celebration of the best international street performers.
The event was also supported by Barnard Castle Town Council.
