A 50-YEAR-OLD man was treated for a broken cheekbone after being attacked from behind.

Police are appealing for witnesses or information after the victim was attacked while walking along Port Clarence Road in Stockton, between 8.45pm and 9.15pm on Friday, August 21.

The man was struck on the head and fell to the floor, where he was kicked numerous times. He was saved by a group of three unknown youths, aged between 17 and 20, who came to the rescue and intervened, before the suspect ran from the scene.

The victim was taken to James Cook University Hospital in Middlesbrough and treated for a broken cheekbone before being released from hospital.

The suspect is described as a white male, aged about 35-years-old, 5ft 11in tall, of stocky build with short hair. He was wearing a dark coloured top, dark jeans and white trainers.

Cleveland Police said they wanted to speak to the three males, as they may be able to help with inquiries.
