ELECTRIC VEHICLE: The Vauxhall Ampera
POLICE are used to charging, but it's normally people not cars.
However, Durham Police has just taken delivery of an electric patrol car.
In every day guise, the Vauxhall Ampera has a top speed of 100mph and nought to 60mph take around nine seconds.
Electricity drives the Ampera’s wheels at all times and speeds. For trips up to around 40-miles, power is supplied by the electricity stored in the 16-kWh, lithium-ion battery.
While driving on electricity delivered by the battery, the Ampera emits zero CO2.
Writing on Twitter Durham Road Policing Unit stated: "Over the next few weeks we will be using this vehicle for our SCRPU patrols. Vauxhall Ampera #3594 #electricvehicle"
