YOUNGSTERS in hospital have been given a late Easter treat by a local supermarket.
Sainsbury's, at the Arnison Centre, Pity Me, provided chocolate eggs and cuddly toys for the young patients - and to staff - at the Treetops Ward of the city's University Hospital of North Durham.
A spokeswoman for the supermarket said: "It is just a goodwill gesture. We are trying to get closer links with the community.
"Easter has gone and we have a lot of eggs.
"We thought where better for them to go than to the children and the nurses."
