BIRDS of prey and the best of British falconry will be celebrated later this month in North Yorkshire.

The International Birds of Prey Centre at Duncombe Park, Helmsley, will be hosting its second annual Raptor Fair on June 13 and 14.

Birds as large as eagles and as tiny as burrowing owls will be in action on both days, on the ground and in the air.

The main show ring will be featuring flying demonstrations from both the Helmsley and Gloucestershire branches of the ICBP.

And in addition Imperial Bird of Prey Academy and Trevor Fowles will be flying some of their own birds.

Spokesman Charlie Heap said: “We’re delighted to be holding the Raptor Fair again. Last year’s fair was a great success and was very well received.”

Yorkshire Gundogs will be repeating their popular dog training demos on both days and their will also be trade stands supplying all manner of falconry-related items.

Full access into the acclaimed International Centre for Birds of Prey is included in the admission price. The cost is £10 for adults and £5 for children.

Overnight camping is available and on the Saturday night there will also be a barbecue, sponsored by Heck Foods.
