THE parents of murdered shopworker Jenny Nicholl have reassured wellwishers that the investigation into their daughter's disappearance still goes on.

Brian and Ann Nicholl say many people have been asking them for information about the murder hunt.

Speaking on the Jenny Nicholl website, the couple said: "The investigation is very much still on the go, though for obvious reasons, we are not able to go into any detail in this forum.

"We are sure however that you will all take some comfort in knowing that it has not gone away or been closed down . . . far from it."

It is understood the couple are given regular progress reports from senior police officers working on the murder investigation.

Last month, the couple planted a tree in memory of their daughter.

A plaque has been placed at the base of the tree.

It reads: "Jenny Nicholl. Those we love are only a thought away. Our Wee Jenny. 1985-2006. The Nicholl family."

Mr and Mrs Nicholl said: "It is a dawn redwood, which is a deciduous conifer and fast growing.

"The park wardens, who arranged everything and planted the tree for us, have been great and they have taken a personal interest in it."

The couple have decided not to release the location of the tree at present.

Jenny, who would now be 21, left her family home in Richmond, North Yorkshire, on June 30, 2005.

A murder investigation was launched four months later when major searches failed to find any trace of her. Detectives say Jenny probably knew her killer.
