POLICE in Durham are warning gardeners that good weather brings out thieves on the look-out for plants, ornaments and equipment.
Two conifers in pots were stolen from the garden of a house in Scargill Way, Belmont, during the holiday weekend.
Inspector Dick Dodds said: "This is a time of year when we do have plants and garden furniture stolen.
"People enjoying the good spring weather should not leave things out. The good weather brings the thieves out as well.
"People should be extra-vigilant and security-conscious.''
He urged people to make sure equipment such as mowers and gardening implements was kept securely in garages and sheds and not left lying around.
Anyone with information about the theft is asked to call police on 0845-60-60-365 or Crimestoppers on 0800-555-111
