IMPROVEMENTS are likely for residents thanks to an innovative new scheme at Erimus Housing.
Tradesmen working for its building services team are undertaking courses at Redcar and Cleveland College to give them the necessary attributes so they can be classed as multi-skilled.
Throughout the courses, plumbers, joiners and electricians will learn extra "bolt-on" skills such as elements of plumbing, brickwork, painting, joinery and plastering.
The move means a resident's repair could be resolved by just one worker instead of several.
Dave Jamison, maintenance manager for Erimus Housing, said: "This initiative is all about giving the best possible service to our customers and increasing the skills of our workforce.
"This will lead to quicker repairs and less upheaval for residents, as well as a boost to our workforce."
So far, 29 employees have undergone the training with more planned.
