THE fascinating story of smuggler John Andrews features during the reopening of the Saltburn Smugglers visitor centre.
The three-room Heritage Centre invites people to relive the sights, sounds and smells of the smuggling trade from more than 200 years ago.
Susan Kent, centre manager, said: "John was known as the Smuggler King. Outwardly, he was a pillar of the community, but underneath, he was a smuggler and even the local gentry knew that."
