THE final piece has been put in place at a landmark £7.2m regeneration scheme on Durham's waterfront.

The last few apartments have now been completed at the Clements Wharf development.

Developers say the pathfinding project by regeneration specialists Amec Developments - the company behind the city's Walkergate scheme nearby - is likely to prove a catalyst for other projects.

The scheme proved popular, with buyers queuing in sub-zero temperatures for the launch, snapping up £4.3m worth of apartments in only 24 hours.

Knight Frank has just released the final phase of six completed apartments at Clements Wharf - and is arranging special viewings.

The main attraction is a top- floor apartment, with what are described as superb views over the city.

Amec Developments sales and marketing director Catie Evans said: "We are delighted by the level of interest shown in Clements Wharf.

"I am confident that the remaining apartments will be equally as popular, as they have all been finished to an exceptionally high standard, with open plan interiors and high specification fixtures and fittings."

Amy Whyte, head of sales at Knight Frank's residential developments team, said: "The success of the development has been tremendous.

"Buyers have been attracted by the standard of apartments on offer and the fantastic location on the waterfront in the very heart of the city centre."

Prices start from £237,500 for a two-bed apartment, which features wood in several tones inside and wooden cladding on the exterior.
