VISITORS to Castle Howard are being given the chance to see a part of the building which is normally closed to the public.
A guided tour of the mausoleum monument is being held this month.
Behind its impressive exterior is a chapel with a crypt which houses generations of the Howard family.
The tour will also include a visit to the Temple of the Four Winds, which is also normally closed.
The tour will be led by the castle's curator, Dr Christopher Ridgway.
He said: "This is a wonderful opportunity to see, at close hand, two of England's finest architectural treasures."
The mausoleum tour starts at 11.30am and on Thursday, April 19, with tickets costing £17.
Tickets must be booked in advance by calling 01653-648621 or emailing house@castlehoward.
