POLICE have arrested a 31-year-old man after a 60-year-old man was stabbed.
Officers were called at around 6.15pm on Sunday River Drive in South Shields.
The victim was taken to the Royal Victoria Infirmary in Newcastle where he is receiving treatment.
A spokesman for Northumbria Police said: “His injuries are not believed to be life-threatening. It is believed the two men were known to each other.
“Extra patrols are taking place to reassure residents in the area and to gather information.”
