PRIMARY school pupils are collecting memories of a recreation field where generations of Bishop Auckland children have played.
Pupils at Etherley Lane are contributing to plans for improving the town recreation ground by making a film about its history.
They are hoping people who have played there in the past will go to the school next week to record interviews for the project.
The film forms part of a feasibility study being carried out by Groundwork West Durham and Darlington with Rachel Clarke, of Twisted Digits.
Joanne Morley, project officer, said: "The Town Rec is something of an institution in Bishop Auckland having played a part in many people's lives.
"It is believed the Rec has been in Bishop Auckland since 1912 and has seen many changes and events since then and been a play space for countless generations.
"We are looking at how the ground can be developed in the future, but I think to do this we also need to look at its past."
Children from years four, five and six will be available during school hours to interview people on Tuesday, Wednesday and Thursday.
There is also an evening recording session on Tuesday, while Groundwork will be at the recreation ground next Saturday.
The completed film will be shown at a consultation event in May.
Anyone wanting to take part is asked to telephone Joanne Morley, at Groundwork, on 01388-662666.
