A MULTI-MILLION pound scheme to give a hotel a national reputation has been deferred.
Plans were entered with the North York Moors National Park to carry out work on the Feversham Arms Hotel, in Helmsley.
They involved extending the hotel to form a new entrance and an underground car park.
The owners also want to build a two-storey health suite and a terrace of five houses on the site.
The scheme was met with a mixed reaction by Helmsley Parish Council.
Some residents said it was an over development and would impact badly on the area.
The plans went before the national park's planning committee yesterday but were deferred until next month's meeting.
