I'm Rob Coles; I front a North East band called Freerunner - check us out at www.myspace.com/freerunnerband - with my brother Michael and Mark Harle on the Drums. We've just signed a worldwide publishing deal and we're going to keep a blog on this site to keep you updated on how we're getting along and give you some glimpses into life as a band. So here goes...

Staying awake while driving is harder than you would think especially on a motorway especially after consecutive sixteen hour days. But luckily, thanks to a heady mix of bhangra music, the alphabet and petrol we managed it to an extent..

The previous week had exploded on Thursday as we were told to prepare for London: a two-day recording expedition to the cap-i-tal with in demand producer and Sneaker Pimp, Liam Howe.

Setting off on a Sunday evening we made a beeline for Cambridge (our stopover point) and, surviving litres of rain, arrived at midnight - bedding down contentedly on our floor-for-the-night. Arising at six with jackdaws and the occasional sleepy finch we left with loaded eyes - outwitting several jaunty speed cameras on our dash along the M11 to our dest-i-nation.

Falling into the basement studio at around 10am we quickly set about it - pummelling guitar, drums and bass with abused fingers, tired feet and careful ears for the next 15 hours in search of the perfect take. Though drained we had time for a late-night bagel before collapsing onto tired mattresses for a brief sleep.

Mixing started early the next morning with yesterday's antics still pinging around our heads - vocal takes to chop-and-change, guitar parts to reassemble and drums fills to tweak and crunch - but we launched ourselves into the music headlong-yet-again.

Leaving London in the early hours, we headed home again arriving back at 5:30am, just in time for breakfast, tired but looking forward to our publishing launch at Newcastle College later that week That's all for now but busy living the next instalment Find out more about the Freerunner publishing launch in the band's next Blog instalment.
