A NUMBER of roads have been resurfaced after demands by residents.

Work has been carried out in the Owton Manor area of Hartlepool after residents expressed concerns about the roads at Hartlepool Borough Council's South Neighbourhood Forum.

Kirremuir Road, Kintra Road, Kinbrace Road, Kilsyth Grove, Kinross Grove and Kelvin Grove have been resurfaced as part of a £125,000 improvement programme.

Neighbourhood forums were established by the council a few years ago with the aim of providing a platform for local residents to say how they would like to see their neighbourhoods improved.

Councillor Michael Johnson, south forum chairman, said: "Local residents expressed their concerns about the condition of roads in the 'K' block and, as a result, six streets have been resurfaced, which is great news for everyone."

Hartlepool resident Mary Green, who is vice-chairwoman of the forum, said: "This goes to show that people can make a difference if they come along and make their voices heard.

"The resurfacing has made a huge difference and I am sure that people living in the areas concerned will be over the moon."
