AN afternoon of tree-planting was helped along with donations from a superstore, a vicar and two parents.
Hunwick Primary School is part of the Eco-Schools scheme, which encourages youngsters to become aware of environmental issues.
Eco-Schools co-ordinator Lynn Skinner said: "We are developing a wildlife area as part of the project, but finding funding was a problem. We approached Homebase, who have kindly sponsored us to plant the trees."
Parents Charles Hedley and Graham Hopper gave log seats and willow hedges, and Father Stewart Irwin, donated snowdrops.
Mrs Skinner added: "We have also enrolled with the RSPB to get the children interested in caring for the environment and the birds."
