A post-mortem examination following a fatal accident found a van driver involved had died from natural causes.
Anthony Fower, 43, of Edmondsley, near Chester-le-Street, was driving a Mercedes Sprinter van which collided with a Mitsubishi Shogun at the top of a slip road leading from the A1(M) at the Bowburn interchange, near Durham, at 11am on Tuesday.
Mr Fower was confirmed dead at the scene, and police said, at the time, it was believed he had suffered a heart attack. Mr Fower was a delivery driver for a water cooler company in Stanley.
