BOOKWORMS have the chance to win a sailing lesson in an initiative to promote reading.

Anyone who borrows an item from one of Stockton's libraries between now and Saturday, March 24, will be entered into a free draw to win an introductory sailing session on Sunday, April 1, at Castlegate Quay Watersports Centre, in the town.

The winner will get the chance to spend a morning sailing a yacht, while two runners-up will win family swim passes for four people at the Splash centre, in Church Road.

The passes will be valid until March 31, next year.

Councillor Jean O'Donnell, Stockton Borough Council's cabinet member for arts leisure and culture, said: "This competition is a fun way of reminding people about the opportunities available at our libraries.

"Who knows, the winner might want to come back and borrow a book about sailing to get ready for their lesson."

To join the library, people need to take two forms of proof of identity and address, before filling in a form.

As well as books, people can borrow CDs, DVDs and video games to enter the contest.
