RICHMONDSHIRE residents are urged to register their vote before the district and parish council elections on May 3.
Only people whose names are on the register may vote in the elections, and applications must be submitted by April 18.
Anyone who has moved into the district since October 15 or has moved house since that date must register.
The council's electoral services officer, Sandra Hullah, said: "Many people believe that because they pay council tax, they are automatically included on the register of electors, but this is not the case."
Forms are available from the register helpline, 01748-829121, or on the council's website, www.richmondshire.gov.uk
