A MAN died during the early hours of this morning after his car left the road, ran down an embankment and crashed through a wooden fence.
Mark Ellis, 34, from Nunthorpe in Middlesbrough, has been named by Cleveland Police as the driver.
His Rover MGZS came to rest in a field following the incident which happened at about 12.40am.
Mr Ellis was driving along the westbound carriageway of the A171 near Barnaby Side Farm, just before the Cross Keys pub on the Guisborough to Nunthorpe stretch. Mr Ellis was travelling alone.
Police are appealing for help in tracing witnesses and are keen to speak to people who may have been in contact with Mr Ellis earlier in the evening.
