Coxhoe United Girls, Under-13s.

THE girls finally got playing after a two-week layoff and started slow for the first five minutes with Deerness having a lot of the ball.

They then stepped up a gear and started to dominate with wide players Lucy Hubery and Olivia Wharrier pushing forward supporting Sarah Wilson up front. Coxhoe's first goal was a cool finish from Olivia Wharrier with Sarah Wilson supplying the pass.

Ashleigh Wilkie ran all over the pitch winning just about every tackle. The second half saw more pressure from Coxhoe which paid off when Sarah Wilson skipped pass her marker and buried the ball into the net.

When Deerness pushed forward it was dealt with easy by Sammy Midgley and Sophie Wilson defending, and stand-in keeper Nichole Lawson who barely had a save to make in another good all round performance from the girls.

Player of the match was Sarah Wilson.

The second match of the was always going to be tough against Hilda Park who were second in the league. Ashleigh Wilkie started in goal and did well to keep the scores level in a tight first half with both sides going close.

Sophie Wilson and Sammy Midgley, in defence, needed to be solid and did not disappoint making last ditch tackles as Hilda Park applied pressure.

The second half saw Sarah Wilson going in goal with Ashleigh Wilkie going in the middle and just like the first game she did not miss a tackle. Teesside Athletic Girls

THE Under-10s Girls travelled to Brompton and in an entertaining game drew 1-1 with a squad depleted by illness, leaving them with only seven players able to play in the league game.

Teesside took the lead through a fine finish from Beth Enderwick and after going close on a few occasions and with Brompton missing a penalty, Teesside thought they had banked the three points.

However in the final minute of injury time Brompton equalised after the Teesside keeper and their player both went for the ball, resulting in a goal and the keeper needing to go off with a hand injury. Nevertheless, Teesside managed to hold out for the last 50 seconds or so with six players.

In the friendly Teesside ran out 11-1 victors with Katie Libbey netting four times, Jina Briggs and Hannah Sleigh with two apiece and Beth Enderwick, Ellie Sigsworth and Gabrielle Wordsworth all with one each.

Senior Ladies

TEESSIDE Athletic Ladies came from a goal behind to win 2-1 against a determined Rutherford Ravens side.

In a very dissapointing first half defensively for Teesside, goalkeeper Lisa Jobling and the woodwork kept the score down to 1-0 to the visiting team. Teesside, although not performing to their recent high standards still created one of the best chances of the first half when Leanne Anderson latched onto a through ball only to see her shot cleared off the line.

Teesside re-grouped at half-time and after a concentrated spell of pressure Rutherford defender Wells put through her own net. This was just rewards for an excellent Teesside move down the right wing.

Spurred on by the equaliser Teesside continued to press for the winner and this came with 15 minutes to go. Leanne Anderson cut in from the right and her goal bound shot was deflected past the stranded Rutherford keeper.

The lead was almost squandered in the final few minutes when Rutherford substitute Kelly burst through the Teesside back four only. Lisa Jobling again covered herself in glory, diving full length and tipping the ball onto the base of the post when a goal looked a certainty.

Teesside held on to their lead and took the three points.

Lisa Jobling was voted player of the match afterwards, this was just reward for an excellent performance in the home goal.
