A MIDDLESBROUGH school has received high praise from Government inspectors.

The Ofsted report on 289-pupil Rose Wood Primary School, Coulby Newham, says it is "a good school with outstanding features in the curriculum".

It quotes one parent as saying: "Rose Wood is a very happy school. Everybody is treated with the same respect. I wouldn't hesitate to recommend this school to anyone."

The report adds that pupils love coming to school, want to improve their work and try hard.

The report highlights the high quality artwork of the pupils, their success in national gymnastic competitions and the support to help children stay healthy - it has a Healthy School Award.

The school is well led and managed, with the headteacher providing clear direction for raising standards and ensuring pupils' wellbeing.

Lead inspector Linda Buller's letter to the school says: "Yours is a good school, and you do well in your learning because you are well taught. You are helped to grow and mature, so that you are ready for secondary school, and even life beyond that. The school takes outstanding care of you, and this helps you to make good progress. Those of you who get some extra help are doing well. You enjoy school and your lessons are interesting and fun."

Headteacher, Lesley Sinclair, said: "We're delighted to get such a positive report and one which confirms what parents tell us about their own and their children's experience of school."
