TOWN councillors at Bedale will fulfil a double engagement later this month.

March 15 will see the official opening of a disabled-friendly public toilet block built for the town council in part of a garage behind Bedale Hall in North End.

The toilets have been designed to help visitors to the hall and to Saturday car boot sales held between April and October in the surrounding parkland.

At the same time, councillors will accept an oak seat made by pupils of Bedale High School and Richmond School under the guidance of David Freeman, a tutor at the Bedale centre of Askham Bryan College.

The seat, which took 12 weeks to make, will be placed at the foot of the ramp leading to Bedale Hall, opposite the Skipton Building Society branch office.

The two events will begin at noon.
