A HEADTEACHER has penned his last musical play for pupils before retiring later this year.
Tony Reather, who been at the helm of All Saints Primary School, in Lanchester, for 20 years, is standing down in the summer.
The 54-year-old has written six musical plays and his latest is called The Time Key.
It is about Pharaoh Akhenaten, who tried to change the way Egyptians worshipped their gods.
In his retirement, Mr Reather hopes to spend more time writing music and travelling around the world.
Mr Reather said: "I have mixed feelings about leaving, because this is a lovely school, but I just fancy a change in my life.
"Music has always been a lifelong interest, and I want to see if I can do something more with the songs I have written, such as maybe put them all together on a website."
The Time Key musical will be performed at St Bede's School, in Lanchester, on Wednesday and Thursday, March 21 and 22, at 7pm. Entry costs £5 for adults.
