A PLAN to build 27 houses is to be debated by a planning committee.
Bett Homes has submitted the application to Derwentside District Council to develop land at Four Winds, on Wesley Terrace, Castleside. The site is rough grassland and was previously a wooded area.
The development would be made up of three and four-bedroomed, terrace, semi-detached and detached houses. Each will have a garage and parking on the front garden.
Neighbours have been consulted and no objections have been received, but Northumbrian Water said the sewage system will not be able to cope.
However, Ann Rawlinson, senior area planning officer, has advised councillors to back the scheme.
She said: "The applicant has submitted a letter from Northumbrian Water which states that it is prepared to accept temporary solutions which do not compromise the operation and performance of the works. The applicant has confirmed that it is willing to implement storage and overnight pumping."
The committee meets at 2pm on Thursday at Consett Civic Centre.

The planning committee meets at 2pm on March 8 at Consett Civic Centre.
