IMPROVED economic growth in North Yorkshire has seen a council scoop more than £160,500.
Hambleton District Council has been given £162,262 from a central Government pot of money. It was awarded the money through the Local Authority Business Growth Incentive Scheme.
The council is one of 22 local authorities across Yorkshire and the Humber to share the funding.
Now in its second year, the scheme gives money to those councils who have the greatest economic growth.
"This is a welcome boost for the council - brought about by our drive to bring more businesses into Hambleton and promote those that are already here," said Councillor Brian Phillips a cabinet member for finance.
"The money is not ring-fenced, so we can use it as we want. We will be looking at our budget and main priorities before deciding where this grant may be allocated."
The scheme is designed to make councils build partnerships with local business and promote local economic sustainability.
