HOUSING BALLOT
CHESTER-LE-STREET District Council is obviously becoming more desperate in its attempts to persuade tenants to vote for privatisation of their homes.
About 4,300 tenants have been bombarded with glossy brochures, telephone calls and home visits.
Now the council has sent every tenant no fewer than three letters in recent weeks which must have cost a fortune in administration, printing and postage.
A total of 128 councils have now had ballots rejected by their tenants including five in the last two months.
I urge all tenants in Chester-le-Street to throw out plans to privatise their homes by voting no in the current ballot. Privatisation of the railways and other key industries has been disastrous - it would be equally disastrous for tenants. - Name supplied, Chester-le-Street.
