COMMUNITY groups have added their artistic touch to a new health village in the heart of North Ormesby.

Middlesbrough Primary Care Trust (PCT) has been working with local people to ensure their health complex retains its strong links with the area.

The new centre, which includes four GP practices and a range of community services, will have a colourful wall mural, featuring the history of the former North Ormesby Hospital.

And local children have designed fencing around the health village, ceramic wall art has been produced by the Phoenix Art Group and a sculptor is creating work for the gardens.

The efforts have been co-ordinated by by artist-in-residence Adrian Moule, who also produced a selection of drawings and paintings, created during the development of the centre.

Mr Moule said: "We thought this would be a great opportunity to show people the work so far, and get some feedback on their thoughts on the development of some of these designs.

"The whole idea behind this is to involve local people in the development of art that will create a sense of place with the whole community."
