A £6,000 plan to encourage young people in Teesdale to use their bikes has been approved by Durham County Council.
The authority's cabinet agreed yesterday to pay for ten parking racks around the district.
The money will be transferred from the Local Transport Plan to Groundwork West Durham.
Many of the racks will be installed around play areas at Stainton Grove, Cockfield, Evenwood, Copley, Woodland, Toft Hill and Bowes. Two are planned at the Green Lane play area, in Barnard Castle, and another in the town centre.
Once installed by Groundwork, they will become the responsibility of Teesdale District Council.
