A school is adding an international dimension to its teaching.
Bedale High School and Bedale Volunteer Bureau will work with an English tutor to support adult foreign nationals in the community, where there are large numbers of immigrant workers.
People taking part in the Bedale International Project will learn spoken English and be helped to explore social and practical situations, local attractions, cultural events and national holidays.
The project is being led by Bedale High School and is supported through funding from the York and North Yorkshire Voluntary Sector Learning and Skills Network.
It links into the extended schools agenda, a Government initiative that encourages schools to open to adult learners as well as children.
The free classes begin on March 6 and will run every first and third Tuesday at Bedale High School, from 6.30pm to 8.30pm.
