A PHOTOGRAPHY club is holding a special exhibition to attract a new generation of snappers.
Bishop Auckland Photographic Society will showcase the diverse interests and talents of its members at the exhibition, which opens at the McGuiness Gallery at Bishop Auckland Town Hall next week.
It is hoped the eclectic display will encourage more photographers to join the society, with the club particularly keen to attract younger members.
The society was formed more than 100 years ago and its chairman, Alan Wedgwood, 92, has been a member since 1939.
It meets at the Lightfoot Centre every Monday night from September to March, with members encouraged to spend the summer months taking pictures.
As well as holding exhibitions, the society also organises competitions but for member, Graeme Leigh, friendship is the biggest draw.
He said: βIt is just wonderful to be around like minded people who share a passion for photography.β
Photographers of Bishop Auckland runs from Monday, March 9, to Saturday, March 28. The gallery is open 10am to 4pm, Monday to Friday, and 9.30am to 12.30pm on Saturday. Admission is free.
Anyone interested in joining the society can contact Mr Leigh on 01388-480480.
