VOTERS will be called to the polls to elect the next Evenwood ward councillor tomorrow (Thursday, October 23) following the death of Councillor Pauline Charlton.
Cllr Charlton, of Cockfield, was a long-serving councillor died in August following an illness, aged 75.
Five candidates are standing for the Durham County Council seat: independent Lee Carnighan, UKIP candidate Ben Casey, Conservative Stephen Hugill, Green Party representative Greg Robinson and Labour candidate Heather Smith.
The ward covers Evenwood, Ramshaw, Cockfield, Toft Hill, Etherley, Woodland, Butterknowle, West Auckland and Hamsterley.
The election will take place tomorrow (Thursday, October 23) with the result expected to be released at 11pm at the West Auckland Memorial Hall, in Bishop Auckland.
