STUDENTS filmed at a police firearms centre to make a promotional video.

The Cleveland Police and Durham Constabulary Tactical Training Centre has instructed officers how to use guns since the facility opened in 2001.

From its base at Urlay Nook near Stockon, it also provides customised training to other law enforcement agencies and the military.

Four first year students studying Creative Film and Moving Image Production at Cleveland College of Art and Design visited the firearms unit before pitching their ideas to staff.

The students were given access to the firearms unit for their filming before feedback and editing took place and the final version was produced.

The advert will be shown on the centre’s website, social media and at trade exhibitions.

Chief Constable of Cleveland Police, Jacqui Cheer said: “We are very pleased that the students from the college have taken time during their studies to assist us with a promotional video which can be used to highlight the specialist work that the centre offers and the skills of the highly trained officers that are available to us.”

Chief Constable of Durham Police, Mike Barton added: “Armed police officers are highly trained and I greatly admire their professionalism and courage.

"The training they receive at the Tactical Training Centre is second to none and so this video highlighting what it has to offer is crucial – from a business point of view. The film looks and feels professional and is a credit to the talented young people who worked so hard to create it; it is a real boost to both Durham and Cleveland Police.”
