BOMB disposal experts carried out a controlled explosion on a small quantity of out-of-date flares and fireworks on Woody Close, Delves Lane, Consett, this morning. (Tuesday, September 23)
Police were called on Sunday by a resident who said they had discovered old maritime flares in their garden shed. The flares are thought to have belonged to a family member who worked in the maritime industry some years ago. Officers from the Army Bomb Disposal (EOD) from Catterick Garrison attended to carry out the explosion.
