DURHAM Police have almost completed their move to new headquarters.
More than 600 people will be based in the state-of-the-art building a stone’s throw from the old HQ at Aykley Heads, Durham City.
Since August several departments have made the short journey to their new base although some have been relocated elsewhere in the county.
The new building, which boasts an open-plan layout, replaces a 1960s building that had become expensive to maintain.
A force spokesman said that the switch had gone smoothly.
“Teams have been gradually moving across throughout August and September and it is nearly complete.
“Comms are still in the old building but we are expecting them to move next month.”
The force plans to hold an official opening ceremony in the near future.
