A MOTORIST is facing prison for causing an accident in which another man was killed.
Timothy McLoughlin today (Monday, September 8) admitted responsibility for the fatal crash on Teesside.
Cyclist Graham Devlin was killed on the A1046 Haverton Hill Road, Billingham, on November 17 last year.
Mr Devlin, 55, from Linthorpe, Middlesbrough, was married to Margaret, and their daughter Katie, 20, described him as "the best dad in the world".
When McLoughlin entered his guilty plea at Teesside Crown Court, gasps and crying could be heard in the public gallery.
The 45-year-old, of Strait Lane, Stainton, Middlesbrough, will be sentenced on October 2.
Judge Howard Crowson banned him from driving in the meantime and granted him bail until his next appearance.
The judge told him: “Your guilty plea will be taken into account when you are sentenced. You will get credit for the fact that you have pleaded guilty at this stage.
“It is a serious matter, of course, and it means almost inevitable prison."
McLoughlin, who was in a Mitsubishi L200 pick-up truck, admitted causing death by dangerous driving.
