• Merchant Park 2 - to support inward investment to the future home of Hitachi Rail Europe in Newton Aycliffe.
• A North East Development and Infrastructure Fund – A package of five projects to support and drive innovation in the LEP area.
• A skills improvement package - Five projects to support training for key industries.
• Swans Wet Berth Infill - To create development land with quay frontage within the Swans site of the North East Enterprise Zone.
• Rural Growth Network infrastructure – To plug infrastructure gaps in key rural market towns and to grow the network of rural enterprise hubs.
• Transport improvement - Nine strategic transport projects including Newcastle Central Metro Station refurbishment.
• Support North East LEP to work with school leaders, to raises attainment and young people’s prospects.
• A North East Infrastructure Fund to identify and link up investment in key strategic development and investment sites.
• Support for the LEP will work with Local Authorities, Jobcentre Plus and other experts to design a trailblazing programme for joining up mental health and employment support.
Longer term:
• Western relief road Durham City; Metro enhancements; A1/A19 junction improvements.
