THREE people arrested over an alleged six-figure fraud at a North-East academy school have been bailed.
Detectives investigating claims of serious mismanagement of funds at Glendene Arts Academy, in Easington Colliery, east Durham, arrested a 41-year-old man in Darlington and a 57-year-old man and his wife, 56, in Whitley Bay, North Tyneside, on Thursday morning (April 3).
All three were bailed pending further enquiries later on Thursday.
The investigation began after following publication of an Education Funding Agency report last November, claiming about £162,000 which should have been spent on children’s education instead went to an unnamed private company.
