A MOTORCYCLIST died after losing control of his bike on a bend, an inquest was told.
Former mechanic Edward Davies crashed into a tractor on the A684 Winton Bank, between Northallerton and the A19, on September 22.
The 65-year-old, of Princes Road, Middlesbrough, was riding his Yamaha motorcycle away from Northallerton when he lost control and collided with a tractor travelling in the opposite direction.
Traffic Constable David Taylor, of North Yorkshire Police, who investigated the collision, said the weather was fine at the time of the crash and the road surface was dry.
Witnesses did not report any concerns about the way either vehicle involved in the incident were being driven in the moments before the crash.
TC Taylor said Mr Davies may have been travelling too fast for his capabilities or overreacted to the bend.
A post-mortem examination found that Mr Davies died as a result of head, chest and abdominal injuries.
Coroner Michael Oakley recorded a verdict of accidental death.
