A NURSING home has held an event to raise awareness of Nutrition and Hydration Week.

Rosedale Nursing Home in Catterick Garrison invited residents, family members and soldiers and their families from the 1st Battalion Duke of Lancaster Regiment to visit last Wednesday to take part in a Worldwide Afternoon Tea.

The home, which offers specialist nursing, residential and dementia care to the elderly served refreshments and a range of cakes in honour of Nutrition and Hydration Week, from March 17 to 23.

Leading organisations of Nutrition and Hydration Week - Patient Safety First, Hospital Caterers Association and National Association of Care Catering – are urging social and health care providers to serve afternoon tea to service users and visitors where appropriate.

Anna Masheter, care manager at Rosedale Nursing Home, said: “Our residents have varied dietary requirements so we know just how important good nutrition and hydration is for maintaining good health.

"Proving quality food and drink to our residents is key to us and the high standard of our food is something we are really proud of.

"And many residents have links to the Armed Forces and enjoyed meeting the soldiers.

“Taking part in the Worldwide Afternoon Tea day seemed like a great way to support the message of Nutrition and Hydration Week and raise awareness while also having fun and socialising with local people.”
