LANDMARKS across the region will be plunged into darkness this weekend.
The lights will be turned off at Durham Castle, Durham Cathedral, the Sage Gateshead, the Millennium Bridge, the Tyne Bridge and elsewhere, as part of the WWF’s Earth Hour.
The stunt will last one hour, starting at 8.30pm on Saturday (March 29).
Earth Hour is a celebration of the planet and aims to show people, together, can make something happen and make a difference.
Additionally, Durham University is asking staff and students to turn off all non-essential lights between 3pm and 4pm on Friday (March 28).
